Here are your October news from the lake…
As you know, the speed traffic signs (50km) are currently being installed on Grand-Poisson-Blanc road. There are still 3 to be installed including near Newton lake and Kelly Newton road. Thank you LSM for accepting our suggestion.
October is the time to secure your property. There are sometimes mysterious people or trucks going around so ask your neighbors to keep an open eye!
WARNING! Please notify your friends and neighbors that the Newton Bay area is not an appropriate place for duck hunting for obvious reasons.
WARNING! Major reconstruction on ch. Grand-Poisson-Blanc between the intersection of ch du Lac Brochet and ch Clermont.
WARNING! Secure your dock! We are at this time of year (October and November) when the water level fluctuates greatly. You can check the level of our lake by going to this website: http://www.cehq.gouv.qc.ca/suivihydro/graphique.asp?NoStation=040602
RESULTS FROM OUR CONSULTATION:
Our first interactive consultation about boating safety on our lake is over. 53% of our members have voted by email or by phone. 57% of our members are indifferent (neutral) to this proposal. Of those who had an opinion … 12 voted YES (50%) and 12 voted NO (50%). For the Executive, this vote is inconclusive. As President, I just contacted the Regional Park to hear their opinions on this proposal. If it is positive, as an association we will seek with them a joint demand for a more visible patrol on the lake as a whole. If the answer is negative from the park, we will wait to see if the situation will improve next summer with the addition of a sign at the entrance of Newton bay indicating to keep a close eye for fishermen, canoers, kayakers, bathers, slow potons and no wake signs and, for Bowman, the recent addition of three no wake signs.
Some good news!

Some other news…
Sadly, Sylvain Bertrand the municipal urban inspector of LSM is on sick leave for some time. We hope that he will be up on his feet real soon! Meantime, our meeting with the General Director of LSM was put on hold because of that situation. Our meeting was to get some answers for our members concerning issues with road signage on the Trans-Outaouais (ch du lac Sainte-Marie) and ch de la Solitude/ Montée Jean-Marc East. Also details for the road situation and access to our properties for this winter. But our letter concerning these issues will be presented at the next municipal meeting. Curious to read our letter (in french) that was send, please click here: lettretrans_solitude2016v4
