There is concern on the presence of eurasian milfoil in our lake. We will monitor this during this summer.

We are continuing with our transparency tests in the Newton bay area.

Next year our general meeting will be under the supervision of a moderator and will be in a question / answer style. We hope this will make the meeting more interesting and shorter for you.

Unfortunately our community surveillance program will not be active this year… lack of volunteers. The panels will remain as an incentive against theft. You are asked to make arrangements, to protect your property, with your neighbors.

-4-

Our Cornroast will be on August 20 and will be free for our members but a fee of $ 4 will be charged for guests. An amount was allocated to cover costs for sausages, liqueurs / water and condiments. Our members will be suggested to bring their drinks to brighten up the atmosphere. Games will be organized and we will encourage our members to bring dishes and desserts prepared by them.

-5-

A recruitment campaign will be undertaken to preserve and even increase our “membership”. On July 17, we have 37 members our target is 69 members (August 2015).

Good news! The municipality of LSM is confirming the arrival of a new Bell Mobility tower on Mont Ste-Marie.

ALERT: Some members are saying that there is eurasian milfoil on our lake. We are asking all members to verify if this is true. Since there is confusion between aquatic plants and midfoil we are asking you to collect a living sample put it in a ziplock (indicate where it was taken) and bring it to Pierre. If you dont know how to recognize it please copy this link: http://www.invadingspecies.com/invaders/plants-aquatic/eurasian-water-milfoil/
BEST SOLUTION: RINCE YOUR BOAT AND EMPTY ANY WATER IN IT (if you like to visit other waterways) and tell your friends to do it also. There are FREE washing stations in Low and Gracefield!
Because Poisson Blanc lake is a «reservoir» for Hydro-Québec and that some sectors have no water in the spring that situation is not favorable for midfoil.

CONTROLING YOUR WAKE :

Not really simple to understand if you are not a expert in boating. It’s a matter of weight vs speed with your boat! What factors cause waves? 1) Wind speed 2) Lake’s depth 3) Water displacement 4) Weight of the boat 5) Form of the boat touching the water 6) Boat speed . Also we must know that small waves become big ones from the effect on many boats at the period of time. BEST SOLUTION: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR WAKE when you are near other smaller boats or the shore!
Members who are complaining about excessive water sports in the Newton Bay area on the weekends please understand: We do not patrol the lake and it is not our intention to do so.
We ask all members to use their common sense when in the Newton Bay or Bowman area … PLEASE respect the tranquility of your neighbor, stay away from the shoreline (50 m / 175 ft ) and please tell your friends visiting you. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT NEWTON BAY IS NOT A LAKE BUT A LARGE BAY. LAKES OF SIMILAR SIZE USUALLY HAVE RESTRICTIONS FOR MOTORIZED CRAFTS.
